The Vernier/NSTA Technology Awards promote the innovative use of data-collection technology using a computer, graphing calculator, or other handheld in the science classroom. We encourage you to apply for one of seven $3,000 awards.
  • DeadlineStart planning your 2012 entry now. The deadline for receipt of applications by NSTA for the 2012 awards is November 30, 2011.
  • Award Each award will consist of $1,000 in cash for the teacher, $1,000 in Vernier Products, and up to $1,000 toward expenses to attend the annual NSTA National Convention.
  • Eligibility Current teachers of science in grades K-College. AIAA Foundation Classroom Grant
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
This is a competitive grant program to educate students about math, science, technology, and engineering. Grant applications must fulfill one or more of those missions. Grant recipients must be current AIAA Educator Associate members or AIAA Professional members actively engaged as K-12 classroom educators.

The Captain Planet Foundation
The foundation supports projects that 1) promote understanding of environmental issues; 2) focus on hands-on involvement; 3) involve children and young adults ages 6-18 (elementary through high school); 4) promote interaction and cooperation within the group; 5) help young people develop planning and problem solving skills; 6) include adult supervision; 7) and commit to follow-up communication with the foundation (specific requirements are explained once the grant has been awarded).

Kinder Morgan Foundation Education Grants
Kinder Morgan Foundation
Grants are primarily directed to educational programs for youth in grades K-12. Funding is provided to local, state, provincial, and regional educational institutions; libraries; and programs that provide ongoing support, such as Junior Achievement. The foundation also supports youth programs provided by local arts organizations, symphony orchestras, museums, and others. NEA's Books Across America Library Books Awards: In collaboration with the National Education Association, the Foundation is pleased to announce 50 awards of $1,000 each to public schools serving economically disadvantaged students to purchase books for school libraries. The awards are made possible with support from corporations and individuals who donated to the NEA’s Books Across America Fund to bring the gift of reading to students.

Student Achievement Grants: provide $5,000 to improve the academic achievement of students by engaging in critical thinking and problem solving that deepen knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work should also improve students' habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection. (These grants replace the Foundation's Innovation Grants program, which has been discontinued.)

Learning & Leadership Grants: provide opportunities for teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to engage in high-quality professional development and lead their colleagues in professional growth. The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study.

DCAT “Making a Difference” Award

This award will recognize and honor excellence in a science program developed and implemented by middle- or high school-level science teachers, grades 6–12. Entries must show innovative and effective teaching strategies combined with a science program that has influenced students to explore and investigate science and its application to global problems.
Eligibility: Innovative middle- or high school-level science programs
Award: $2,500 to be used to enhance or expand the winning science program; the winning school’s lead science teacher and principal will be awarded coach airfare and two nights’ hotel accommodation to attend NSTA’s National Conference
